Kamara: Wenger won’t change Arsenal’s style for Chelsea game
Chris Kamara foresaw a cagey Chelsea display against Manchester United last weekend. And our man is going for more of the same when the Blues travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal.
Kammy can see another tale of two contrasting styles unfolding in north London’s Super Sunday clash with both respective managers unlikely to budge when it comes to their traditional approaches.
He told Ladbrokes News: “Last weekend Louis van Gaal played right into Chelsea’s hands. Jose Mourinho set his team up to counter-attack and got down the sides of the full-backs for Eden Hazard to score.”
“Against Arsenal there will be the same tactics. But we all know the Gunners are all-out attack so it makes things interesting. Once again it’s a game that Chelsea don’t have to win. They can afford to lose although they obviously won’t want to.”
Mourinho’s penchant for stifling the opposition has been well-documented but can the Gunners go into this heavyweight clash having gleaned something from United’s recent defeat?
“Will Wenger take lessons from Manchester United’s defeat? No. They’ve been on such a great run recently and as far as this season is concerned he’s not going to change” Kammy added.
“He might sit down with Steve Bould at the end of the season and wonder where his team could’ve been stronger or more disciplined in certain matches. But for this game I can see Arsenal playing expansive and entertaining football once again.”
