Kamara: Give Redfearn time to work with youngsters like Lewis Cook

Having been linked with a number of top Premier League clubs this week many Leeds United fans will be worried about the prospect of losing one of their rising stars.

Highly-rated midfielder Lewis Cook is allegedly attracting the interest of Manchester United, rivals City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal following some stellar displays for the Whites this season.

And one man with close connections to the Yorkshire outfit has been quick to back up recent praise for the 18-year-old.

Sky Sports legend and Ladbrokes ambassador Chris Kamara said: “All my mates are Leeds fans and they rave about him and say how talented he is and how he’ll go all the way to the top.”

Cook has been dubbed ‘the new Paul Scholes’ in some quarters, further enhancing suggestions that he may be Old Trafford-bound.

But as Kammy points out the England U18s youngster is very much his own man.

“It’s tough to make comparisons with others as he’s got his own individual style. But the one thing that’s impressed everybody is his composure” he added.

“Neil Redfearn’s worked with him and all the talented youngsters at Elland Road and is well aware of his skills. He’ll just want to let the lad get on with it.

“In an ideal world the manager would be allowed to bring in players to help bring these youngsters on further but that’s not going to happen – we know that’s not the way Cellino works.”

“But whatever happens with Redfearn at Leeds he won’t be going back to the youth team, he’s got the taste for first team management now.”

Leeds take on Cardiff this weekend with the hosts 6/4 favourites to take all three points.
