#InsideInfo: Warrington’s Joel Monaghan spills the beans on team-mates

Published:

After beating Wakefield by an astonishing 80-0 scoreline last week Aussie star Joel Monaghan will have been reminded why he made the decision to travel to England to join the Super League with Warrington back in 2011.

The Wolves captain has led by example this season but even before the campaign kicked off he showed he’d got the measure of his team-mates in an exclusive chat with Ladbrokes News.

Read on to see who Monaghan rated and berated with this week’s #Inside Info.

Who is the best trainer?

Mickey Higham actually. I know he’s 33 but he still gives all the young guys a hiding and he’s getting better with age.

Who is the team joker?

Matty Russell. He’s new, he came here last year and he gets on to the boys all the time. His favourite thing to do at the moment is swap people’s faces with this app on his phone and it winds all the boys up.

Who is the worst dressed player?

Rhys Evans by a mile. He’s the worst dressed at any club I’ve ever been. He’s always wearing ‘60s-style blazers and two-tone jeans, just some really horrible gear.

Who has the worst taste in music?

Ashton Sims. It’s not too bad but he only listens to Metallica. That’s it, nothing else. It’s all he’ll listen to.

Who is the fastest player?

Kevin Penny. He’s lightening.

Who is the slowest Player

You’re talking to him!

Who is the most intelligent player?

There’s not many at this club. Probably Chris Hill though, he’s pretty intelligent, he just doesn’t sound it.

Who is the least Intelligent player?

That’d be Chris Bridge. By a country mile.

Who has the weirdest superstition?

Paul Wood had about a thousand before a game. Washing his hands 30 times and all that sort of stuff but there’s not too many strange ones now.

Who hits the hardest in training?

Probably Ashton Sims. Actually Anthony England, I steer clear of him in training.
