BGT: Cowell’s Golden Buzzer selection now short favourite to win

Britain’s Got Talent has an early frontrunner for stardom this year after Simon Cowell pressed his Golden Buzzer in the opening show of the series.
Cowell used his only fast pass to ensure that 26-year-old Hull council worker Calum Scott was put straight through to the live semi-finals.
The singer tried and failed to make it past X Factor producers back in 2012 but after witnessing the audience’s reaction to his rendition of Robyn’s Dancing On my Own Cowell felt compelled to press his Golden Buzzer.
It seems the bookies are backing Simon’s judgement too, with Scott priced up as the early 4/1 favourite.
The ventriloquist and his “talking” dog wowed the judges but only after a shaky start.
Metral’s dog seemed reluctant to play ball at first and the audience thought another classic oddball had graced the stage but when Wendy began to answer his questions and sing in perfect time to the music Cowell’s jaw dropped and so did the odds, with a price of 16/1 now on offer.
The crowd lapped it up, however, and the pair can now be backed at 25/1 to win the show outright.
