Arsenal look to double Serie A swoop with Milan star in the mix

Arsenal scouts look set to take in the sunny climes of Milan and Sicily in the coming months, amid reports suggesting the Gunners may be lining up a double Serie A transfer swoop this summer.

The north London club appear to be keen on bolstering their attacking options at the end of the season with Paulo Dybala and Stephan El Shaarawy the primary targets.

Dybala has long been on Arsenal’s radar, having caught the eye of Arsene Wenger during an impressive campaign in the Italian top-flight.

Dubbed the “new Sergio Aguero” by Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, the 21-year-old Argentine has lived up to the billing with 12 goals in 27 Serie A outings this season.

Arsenal may have already made an initial move for the South American striker too, with The Mirror this week carrying quotes from an Italian radio interview with Zamparini.

“Juventus and Arsenal have already made offers for the boy,” the Palermo chief explained in the on-air chat.

“…Of the English teams, Arsenal is the first choice, because of the way Arsene Wenger’s team plays.”

Valued at a reported €40m by his Serie A employers, the Gunners would have to spend big in order to get their man, but it could prove to be a canny investment given Dybala’s form this season.

Away from the Argentine, meanwhile, Arsenal are also being linked with El Shaarawy, amid speculation suggesting AC Milan may look to sell the 22-year-old this summer.

A product of the Genoa youth academy, the Italy international has struggled for form in recent times, having missed out on the 2014 World Cup after picking up a serious thigh injury.

Having made just 20 Serie A appearances over the past two seasons, AC Milan may now look to cut their losses with the youngster.

Speaking in an interview with MilanNews, his agent Manuel El Shaarawy appeared to suggest as much.

“If Milan were to tell us that Stephan needs to go elsewhere then we’d sit round the table and talk about it,” he said.

With reports valuing the Rossoneri youngster at around £11.8m, he could prove a relatively inexpensive addition to the Arsenal squad.

Whether Wenger opts to iron out deals for both players or either one of them, remains to be seen but for now it appears that the Frenchman’s focus is very much on goings on in Italy and more specifically Serie A.
