West Brom star facing increasingly tough choices on his future

Published:

The longer the season goes on, the more tough choices lie ahead of West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

It seems with increasing certainty that the England U21 international will be pursued by at least one top Premier League club in the summer, something the player himself has openly craved this season.

Only now it seems sides from abroad are sweet on his signature too as reports from Italy suggest that the biggest club in the land, Juventus, are also starting to monitor Berahino’s future.

If news of English links were turning the youngster’s head, this latest revelation is sure to.

Weeks on from being spotted watching Manchester United battle Arsenal at Old Trafford, Berahino seemingly has lucrative moves abroad on his horizon as Massimiliano Allegri seeks to replenish his stocks up front.

With 18 goals in 36 all-competition appearances for the Baggies, Berahino has enjoyed a stellar campaign so far. Only Carlos Tevez can claim a better haul in front of goal for the Old Lady this term, suggesting the in-demand Berahino could play a prominent role for the Scudetto chasers should he sign.

According to the same Italian reports, Atletico Madrid are also in pursuit of the 21-year-old. Even if such rumours end up being false, their presence is sure to further convince Berahino that he can pursue a top-club career sooner rather than later.

Beyond his domestic future, there are international matters to address too as Burundi, the country of Berahino’s birth, have invited him to play in a friendly with Mauritius.

Having yet to make a senior appearance for Roy Hodgson’s England, the striker must decide whether he wants to wait for his chance with the Three Lions or plunge into international football with the 126th-ranked side in the world.
