Murray edging closer to another landmark career milestone

Published:

Suffice to say that during a glittering tennis career, there have been heady highs offset by some crushing lows for Andy Murray, and as Britain’s best player approaches yet another milestone we celebrate his journey to the cusp of the 500 club.

This isn’t in reference to the number of sweatbands he’s worn out since joining the ATP Tour full-time a decade ago either, it’s the amount of career wins Murray will reach should he defeat Kevin Anderson in Miami on Tuesday evening GMT.

Muzza meets the South African in the last 16 of the Miami Open and 1/8 says he’ll record a fourth victory in five matches against today’s opponent, thereby making him the 46th man in the open era to reach the 500 career wins mark.

How this compares to winning Wimbledon or even being given the freedom of Stirling we will never know, but it seems like the perfect opportunity for some reflection.

Our below graphic celebrates Murray’s journey to the next career landmark.
