Meet the PSG starlet poised to be Everton’s next loan import

It’s fair to say that Everton have a mixed record when it comes to loan signings from abroad. But that hasn’t appeared to stop them lining up another temporary arrival from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Rumours are gathering pace that the Toffees sent scouts to PSG’s game against Bordeaux at the weekend to muse over the merits of bringing Adrien Rabiot to Merseyside.
The midfielder has been the subject of interest from other Premier League outfits such as Arsenal and Tottenham over the course of the campaign, but with Les Parisiens open to a loan move next season, Roberto Martinez’s men have entered the race.
Plenty of interest in Rabiot’s team-mate Clement Chatome was reported in the papers at the start of the season, but it appears Everton have changed tack.
Generally stuck behind Thiago Motta and Yohan Cabaye in the battle to secure the starting holding-midfielder role, Rabiot has struggled to hold down a regular place at the Parc Des Princes.
He’s made 12 Ligue 1 appearances, mostly from the bench, but has still managed to chip in with a trio of goals for Laurent Blanc’s side, including a brace in last month’s 3-1 victory over Toulouse.
A loan move would almost certainly be more to PSG’s liking than a permanent switch, with plenty of playing time at Goodison Park likely to only increase the 19-year-old’s worth.
As well as possessing plenty of bite in a tackle, Rabiot is deadly accurate with his passing.
In his appearances in the league this season, he has completed 88.3 per cent of his passes, a return that would put him within the top 25 players in the Premier League this season.
With the power of Romelu Lukaku and the pace of Kevin Mirallas crying out for some top-quality service, a move for the French starlet could be a top priority for Roberto Martinez in the close season.
As long as their 3-0 victory over Newcastle wasn’t a flash in the pan and they stay in the Premier League, that is.
