Manchester United favourites to snap up unsettled Real Madrid star

Manchester United have emerged as favourites to lure Gareth bale back to the Premier League, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.

The bookmaker has the Red Devils priced up as the 7/4 favourites to land the Welsh attacker should he decide to call time on his La Liga stay and return to the Premier league – a move priced up at 3/1.

The market shift comes after a lacklustre display from the former Southampton and Tottenham man saw him booed by sections of the Bernabeu crowd during Madrid’s recent El Clasico loss and have his car subjected to an attack from fans.

Commenting on the fractured relationship between Bale and some Los Blancos supporters, Jack Beresford of Ladbrokes said: “Despite scoring the winner for Real in last season’s Champions League final, Bale continues to be the target of abuse and the odds suggest he’ll have soon had enough”

United are long-time admirers of the wing wizard, first attempting to sign him when he was plying his trade at St Mary’s.

However, should Bale decide to leave, United will face stiff competition for his signature with Chelsea priced at 6/1 to be his next club and a return to Spurs available at 16/1.

United’s bitter rivals Liverpool are also credited with an interest but after losing to the Red Devils and potentially missing out on Champions League football the Anfield club are a distant 20/1.

Arsenal are available at 33/1 but the presence of David de Gea at Old Trafford means Louis van Gaal looks most likely to tempt Bale back to these shores.

Madrid are on the lookout for a long-term successor to Ilker Casillas and see the young Spaniard as the ideal solution. United would love to keep hold of the 24-year-old stopper but with Victor Valdes waiting in the wings, De Gea could be used as a makeweight in any bid for Bale.
