King Kane given yet another boost ahead of first England start

He doesn’t really need any further endorsements. But for what it’s worth Tottenham star Harry Kane has received even more praise, this time from Ladbrokes News readers.

Ahead of the 21-year-old’s first England start against Italy in Turin this evening we begged the question: who is England’s best newcomer?

And of our chosen quartet of stars it’s perhaps come as little surprise that Kane emerged top of the pile.

The criteria was simple enough. Our selected players had to have each received a call-up to the senior squad following the Three Lions’ disastrous World Cup campaign in Brazil last summer.

That put Kane, fellow Spurs youngster Ryan Mason, Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph into the mix.

The former of our awesome foursome received an emphatic 71% of the vote with exciting full-back Clyne second on 18%.

Meanwhile, supposed Manchester United target Delph was next in line on 10% while Mason trailed behind with just 1% of you picking him out.

Here’s hoping hotshot Harry can continue his rich vein of form against the Azzurri. It didn’t exactly take him too long to make an impact on his England bow last week.
