Kamara: Crowe looks serious about Leeds investment

Published:

Last week’s revelations about actor Russell Crowe’s potential investment in Leeds United certainly caused a stir amongst the Whites faithful.

And while some were quick to dismiss the movie star’s posturing as nothing more than Twitter bait, the 50-year-old has shown there could be some substance to the story linking him with the club.

Leeds Fans LLP, a supporters’ group, are reportedly seeking face-to-face contact with the Gladiator star following speculation that he is interested in buying the Elland Road outfit.

The actor himself recently tweeted the group to highlight a film series about the success of his involvement with rugby league side, South Sydney Rabbitohs.

And that, according to Ladbrokes ambassador Chris Kamara, highlights Crowe’s seriousness about linking up with the club he’s supported since he was a boy.

Kammy told Ladbrokes News: “I wasn’t aware until now that Russell Crowe had responded to the fan group to show them what he’s all about. But given that he has he must be serious about the idea of investing in Leeds.

“If he wants to put money into football then I don’t have any problem with that.”

In other off-field matters, president Massimo Cellino has had his disqualification from the club extended until May 3.

But according to our man that’s not an issue that will affect the players.

“The players won’t be bothered by what’s going on off the pitch. They only care about playing football and getting their wages and that’s how it should be” he added.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to face Wigan in the Championship with the visitors 5/2 to leave the DW Stadium with all three points.
