#InsideInfo: Warrington’s Richie Myler nails Gene Ormsby’s clobber

Published:

Warrington are right back in the Super League mix after a convincing win over Leeds last weekend but their credentials will be put to the test against unbeaten league leaders St Helens on Thursday.

Wolves scrum-half Richie Myler was full of praise for Chris Hill and Kevin Penny when Ladbrokes News caught up with him earlier in the season, and while those two could play a key role in Warrington’s chances against Saints Myler is less convinced by some of his other teammates off-field credentials.

Read on to see who the 24-year-old rates and berates.

Who is the best trainer?

Chris Hill. He gives 110 per cent every time. He’s a very competitive trainer and plays the same way, which is good. He just strives for more and makes everyone else a better trainer.

Who is the team joker?

It’s a weird one because he’s our captain and we all love him but it’s Joel Monaghan. He loves a bit of banter. He’s reined it in a bit now he’s been given the captain’s knock but he’s definitely the joker in the team.

Who is the worst dressed player?

Gene Ormsby. He’s a young lad in the first team and some of the stuff he wears is unbelievable. He wears some tops I’ve never seen and I quite like my fashion but some of the gear he wears is just ridiculous.

Who has the worst taste in music?

Ben Sterling the physio. He plays some really random stuff we’ve never heard. He’s always on Spotify playing new tracks.

Who is the fastest player?

Kevin Penny. He’s like lightening when you get him into open space.

Who is the slowest player?

Ben Harrison probably and he won’t mind me saying that. He’s a tough front rower and he does the really hard graft. The quick stuff isn’t really his job to be fair. He carries the ball forward well but speed isn’t a big part of his game.

Who is the most intelligent player?

That’s a tough one. I think Joel values his intelligence. I’m probably the least if that’s your next question.

Who is the least intelligent player?

To be fair there are quite a few candidates at the club besides me.

Who has the weirdest superstition?

A lot of lads have a set place on the bus and lucky underpants and that sort of thing. I like the same pre-match meal but nothing too out of the ordinary. We used to have some players who were very specific with their taping but nothing like that at the moment.

Who hits the hardest in training?

Chris Hill. He’s a big bloke, about 18st of pure muscle, and he can shift as well so it’s not nice tacking him.
