#InsideInfo: Giants’ Jodie Broughton says teammate is ‘not a full shilling’

Published:

Huddersfield finally kick-started their Super League campaign with a win over Widnes last week and the Giants will attempt to make it back-to-back wins when Castleford visit the John Smith’s Stadium on Thursday.

Ladbrokes News caught up with Giants wing Jodie Broughton earlier in the season and according to the 27-year-old, Jermaine McGillvary could be key to the host’s chances this year.

Read on to see who Broughton rates and who he thinks needs to smarten up.

Who is the best trainer?

In our team I think that’s probably Michael Lawrence. He’s really keen, we call him Roy sometimes. He’s a really good trainer and he plays like he trains too so it’s all good.

Who is the team joker?

Luke Robinson without a shadow of a doubt. I think he feels he needs to be because he’s only about 4ft5 or whatever. He’s always pulling jokes on the lads and taking the mick.

It’s funny though because he pretends he’s your friend and you get into some quite deep conversations with him but as soon as you say something that you might do he’s telling all the lads and poking fun again in his deep voice.

Who is the worst dressed player?

Chris Bailey by far. He’s an Australian and he likes to wear his running trainers with his jeans for a night out. He seems to think he’s got style and is quite cool but no!

Who has the worst taste in music?

There’s a few knocking about. Scott Grix actually fancies himself as a bit of a musician but he always plays Irish folk music which doesn’t go down too well in the gym but he likes it.

Who is the fastest player?

I’ll have to take that. It’d either be me or Jerry (McGillvary) but I’ll take it.

Who is the slowest player?

There’s a couple. Jake Connor is up there with some of the slowest people I’ve ever known. He does make up for it other respects though.

Who is the most intelligent player?

I bet everyone has said themselves but genuinely it is me.

Who is the least intelligent player?

Jacob Fairbank. He says some things that need explaining. He’s not a full shilling.

Who has the weirdest superstition?

Grixy is very superstitious; He’s very regimented and likes his things set out a certain way. He’s number one so if I’m playing I’ll be sat one or two places away and if you knock his towel it’s game over, you’ve had it.

Who hits the hardest in training?

Michael Lawrence hits pretty hard but again I’ll have to say Jermaine McGillvary he trains as he plays and he’s another Roy Keane of the team.
