Huge chance of QPR dragging Everton into relegation scrap
Many were looking to Everton to save the Premier League’s European blushes with a strong Europa League run, but after they became the latest from these shores to be disappoint on the continent the Toffees must save their top-flight status.
Having been thumped 5-2 at the home of Dynamo Kiev to crash out of Uefa’s little-sister of a European competition, Roberto Martinez’s men make the long trip back from the Ukraine to face a side also scrapping for their lives in the division.
QPR find themselves four points adrift of safety with nine games to go before the end of the season, but can arrest some poor form of late against the road-weary Toffees.
The Hoops have only won six games all season, but every single one of them has come against sides currently sat 13th in the table or lower and five of them have been at Loftus Road. Everton are currently 14th.
In addition, the Goodison Park side have far from enjoyed playing away from their own ground this season. Martinez’s men have lost nine of their 15 league assignments on the road so far this term, including all of their last four in the top-flight.
With Hull the only side from eighth place or lower to travel to QPR and pick up a victory, the 23/10 on a victory for the hosts certainly appeals.
However, taking that last stat into consideration, it’s the 8/13 available on the double chance market that really catches the eye. When considering the relegation-scrap nature of this encounter, along with Everton’s stature false favourites to win the game at 5/4, that really is the bet to be making.
A man in form for the hosts in Matty Phillips, who has either scored or assisted the Hoops on five goals in his last five appearances for them. He is 10/1 to nab himself the opening goal at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon.
