Hipster Tipster: I’m backing Bielsa and Moyes for a Super Sunday

This Sunday I’m shutting the curtains, barricading the door and gently slipping on my oversized Bose headphones in order to enjoy a day of undisturbed European football action with a bet or 10 thrown in for good measure.
With Liverpool v Manchester United kicking off in the afternoon, you can imagine the streets of London will be littered with fans of the red persuasion, adorned in the latest kits featuring names like “Balotelli” and “Falcao” – the fools.
I, however, will be sporting a shirt from my beloved Palermo, safe in the knowledge that my decision to get long-standing club captain Edgar Barreto’s name on the back has already prompted knowing nods from fellow bearded football Europhiles down at my local Dalston watering hole.
No one will see it today though, with the plan being to shut myself in, fully stocked up with three-flavour Focaccia bread, dips and locally-brewed Cola for 12 hours of football fun.
Don’t worry though, I will be in good company with David Moyes and Marcelo Bielsa.
Here are my tips.
The Wolves ravaged Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan in the Europa League with even good old Lord Bendtner himself getting among the goals. After beating Freiburg 3-0 in the Bundesliga last weekend I expect them to make mincemeat of a Mainz side with one win from three at home.
David Moyes is working his magic down in San Sebastian at present with wins in three of his last four games. Cordoba meanwhile have lost eight games in a row in La Liga. It’s time for the Scot to show Manchester United what they are missing.
The form team in Serie A at the moment are likely to prove too much for Luca Toni and Hellas, with the Biancocelesti winning five in a row in the league while the visitors have lost six of their last seven away from Verona in all competitions.
Marcelo Bielsa’s boys may be four points off the pace in Ligue 1 but I’m still backing the Argentine to enjoy a comfortable win from the comfort of his drinks cooler/bench. Marseille beat Lens earlier this season while their hosts have won just one of their last 11 in all competitions – au revoir.
