Exiled Man Utd striker ideal replacement for Spurs’ second string

Coming back from the realisation that neither of the two biggest clubs in the world have much use for your services can be a tough pill to swallow, but that is what Javier Hernandez must do.
After spending most of his latter days as a Manchester United player stapled to the bench, the Mexican striker was sent on loan to Real Madrid in September.
At the time sceptics wondered how Chicharito would break into a forward line containing the two most expensive players in the world and Karim Benzema if he couldn’t oust James Wilson from the Red Devils’ pecking order.
As it transpires, those doubts have proved fruitful, as the 26-year-old has made just four starts for Los Blancos. 17 more outings have come his way off the bench, but with those appearances often limited to 15 minutes or less, the forward’s rhythm is obviously lacking.
With just four goals to his name this season Madrid are reportedly declining the option to buy Hernandez permanently, which should put Tottenham on red alert in the summer.
The north Lononders were roundly tipped to land the diminutive striker last year and should reprise their pursuit of him at the end of the current campaign.
Not only has Hernandez proved himself to be a reliable Premier League scorer when afforded the opportunity, but he would be a perfect replacement from the current crop deputising for Harry Kane.
Beyond the England U21 star, Mauricio Pochettino isn’t able to employ his high-energy strategy when Roberto Soldado or Emmanuel Adebayor play in Kane’s place.
What that pair, especially the latter, lack in pace and work rate would be brought in abundance by the Mexican.
His arrival would allow Pochettino to partner Hernandez and Kane together in a frantic defend-from-the-front approach, or bring either one off the bench to continue the theme when only one striker is required.
