England’s Bath duo the pick of Six Nations try-scorer specials

Published:

A tantalising Six Nations conclusion awaits and whether it’s England, Ireland, Wales or France who come away with the 2015 trophy, Ladbrokes customers have ample opportunity to win themselves.

The bookmakers have released a series of special bets surrounding the final batch of fixtures and there are a few corkers in there judging by the way the tournament cookie has crumbled thus far.

For starters the necessity of realistic hopes England, Ireland and Wales winning to stand a chance of glory, renders the 8/11 on all three nations at least fulfilling that side of the bargain a decent starting point.

For the slightly more adventurous punter their looks to be much more value in the combined wins special on the main handicap which pays out at 15/2.

Wales’ need for a big win is most pressing and given France left Rome as 29-0 winners last weekend, Warren Gatland’s men may well hurdle a 24-point handicap against Italy to spice things up.

Ireland have England well and truly in their sights with a points difference of only four to bridge, meaning a positive result (-8) against Scotland will be around Joe Schmidt’s lowest target.

Meanwhile, as top scorers England go in search of any breathing space they can create against France last up, shaking a -9 handicap is very plausible considering France’s last four Twickenham visits have seen Les Bleus defeated by at least eight points.

Of the combination try scorer bets (all listed below) it has to be Bath Rugby and England backs Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson at 4/1 that stand out.

The Red Rose have scored five more tries than any other nation and outside centre Joseph has snaffled four of those, while his club colleague started the try-scoring ball rolling against Wales and his line-breaking surges have continued to catch the eye.
