Cadillac Championship: Six-year wait for title to end for Casey

The Trump National Doral, which hosts the WGC Cadillac Championship on the PGA Tour this week, is the hardest course on the schedule not to hold a major.
When Patrick Reed won with a four-under-par total last year, it was the closest winning score to par in a non-major since 2011.
The Blue Monster Course at the golf club, where this event will be played, ranked among the hardest on the tour last season for fairways hit and par-3 scoring, among others.
It’s clear, then, that in order to win here golfers must be in supreme form.
Few in the field meet that criteria better than Englishman Paul Casey, who tees off on Thursday as a 33/1 shot to win the tournament with Ladbrokes.
The former Ryder Cup member has enjoyed a renaissance in his career recently, only qualifying for this event thanks to the rise in his World Golf Ranking that his play has earned him.
Last week he was T3 at the Honda Classic, a result that came hot on the heels of a heartbreaking playoff defeat in the Northern Trust Open.
That Casey was able to brush off the disappointment of missing out on victory so quickly is heartening, especially as he in on a six-year drought when it comes to winning tournaments.
Should he continue to play at this level the wait for winner’s champagne won’t go on much longer and the price offered on him ending that barren spell in Florida is too good to refuse.
At 80/1, Joost Luiten is also one to look out for after he was T13 in this last year and arrives on the back of a personal best PGA Tour finish of T11 last time out. 6/1 on the Dutchman finishing in the top 10 is strong too.
