Aston Villa in queue of clubs monitoring Swansea star’s situation

Swansea have already cultivated and sold off one Welsh international left-back, meaning they will be keen as mustard to keep hold of the remaining one on their books.
That might be easier said than done for Garry Monk and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins though.
Having lost Ben Davies to the lure of Tottenham in the summer there’s a mounting sense of foreboding that Neil Taylor could be next out of the Liberty Stadium exit door.
Taylor has called off contract extension talks in south Wales until the summer and only has a year left on his current deal which adds pressure to the situation.
Among others, Aston Villa are paying close attention to the situation as Tim Sherwood weighs up his options at left-back, choosing to play Kieran Richardson ahead of regular Aly Cissokho before the latter got injured early in his tenure.
If Villa survive their latest brush with relegation, where 1/5 says they will with Ladbrokes, then Sherwood will be keen to mould his own identity on his side next season.
Taylor has clearly profited from Davies’ Liberty Stadium departure both at club and international level.
Where Davies’ Premier League career blossomed in Taylor’s absence through injury at Swansea, he’s now returned to understudy status at White Hart Lane behind England call-up Danny Rose.
This limited exposure under Mauricio Pochettino has been in stark contrast to Taylor who has re-established himself as Monk’s first-choice left-back.
In turn, this has translated to Taylor nailing down the left-back berth for Wales in front of Davies in the early part of their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
Wales are involved in a crunch match in Group B against Israel in Jerusalem next, where they are priced as 14/5 underdogs.
