West Ham launch late bid to bring Adebayor to Upton Park

West Ham’s loan pursuit of Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor looks to still be on, with the east London club unwilling to let Carlton Cole complete his move to West Brom without a replacement lined up.

As the minutes count down before the transfer window closes, Ladbrokes have seen a flurry of bets come in for the Togolese striker to move to the Boleyn.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man is now 1/3 to be a West Ham player at the closure of the window, whereas it’s 7/4 that he is still a Tottenham player come 11pm on February 2.

A string of clubs have been linked with his signing but it now appears that Sam Allardyce has thrust his way into the fore in the race to secure his signature.

The former Bolton boss is seen as a man that can manage strong characters, and with Adebayor falling out with a number of players and managers in the past, there is hope that the West Ham gaffer could get the best out of the 29-year-old striker.

Bring Adebayor back to former glories and the Hammers have a man who has 86 Premier League goals to his name in 228 top-flight appearances.

And with another injury striking Andy Carroll down, and the controversial battle with the Senegalese FA taking hold in east London, West Ham look desperate to improve their striking options.

Time is running out, but it looks a good chance that they could be welcoming a new face to the Boleyn Ground.
