Though he’s among the youngest coaches in the Super League, what 35-year-old Radford lacks in experience he certainly makes up for with his passion and all round knowledge of the game.
As a player he spent time with Hull Sharks and Bradford Bulls before finishing his career at Hull FC. He enjoyed a fine apprenticeship of sorts prior to his appointment, working as assistant coach to Peter Gentile before making the step up in September 2013.
Last season’s 11th place finish was undoubtedly a major disappointment but after an off-season in which Hull have recruited well, making the play-offs is certainly not out of the question.
Star Man: Joe Westerman
The Cream’s marquee signing back in Super League XVI, Westerman was previously named Young Player of the Year at previous club Castleford Tigers back in 2007, and will be looking to play his way into contention for the England national team this term.
Capable of playing at either loose forward or second row, Westerman’s kicking skills and fine ball handling skills make him the jewel in the crown for Hull and with the player linked to Warrington in recent weeks, Radford will be desperate to keep hold of the talented star.
