Spurs v Arsenal: Unlikely midfield pair fancied for goals

Published:

Most punters tuning into Saturday lunchtime’s north London derby will be familiar with the impressive scoring records of big name players in this fixture such as Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor or Arsenal forward Theo Walcott.

The former has bagged more goals in this derby than any other player in Premier League history, while the latter has got onto the scoresheet in four of his last six appearances against Tottenham.

Only Adebayor’s lack of starts accounts for the lanky Togolese striker being outside the top crop of candidates to score at White Hart Lane with Ladbrokes at odds of 14/5.

Meanwhile fresh from marking his last two Gunners appearances with goals, only two players are shorter in the betting than Walcott, at 21/10 to net.

However, we’ve had a scratch around for some more value in the market and picked out two midfielders at far more exciting prices.

Paulinho to score anytime @ 9/2

The Brazilian was tipped to be heading out the door, but to his credit Paulinho’s performances during a hectic January schedule for Spurs earned him a first Premier League start of the season against West Brom last time.

Mauricio Pochettino will be reluctant to change his side after one of their most consummate displays of the campaign and Paulinho, who scored eight last season and has a couple to his name this, is a tempting price.

Tomas Rosicky to score anytime @ 5/1

The Czech maestro has scored twice in his last seven games and Arsene Wenger often puts faith in such an experienced performer in big matches.

Rosicky’s chances of starting are improved by the absence of Alexis Sanchez, while he also scored twice against Spurs last season, including the sole goal in this fixture.
