Don’t tell anyone at Kempton Park this weekend that the contests are mere preps for Cheltenham, for with some top quality action on offer the competition is sure to be fierce.
Elsewhere Sire De Grugy does go for a Festival prep at Chepstow after his Newbury tumble, and new Ladbrokes customers can grab a whopping 4/1 on Gary Moore’s charge from 8am on Saturday.

Six go to post for the Pendil Novices Chase, but in truth it looks to be between the top three in the betting.
And likely to be the biggest price of the trio, Jeremy Scott’s charge may just be a spot of value.
He gets a 7lb concession from his two main rivals, and is very interesting upped in trip.
He’s looked a bit short of pace in recent runs so moving away from the bare 2m looks wise.
While his debut win looked shaky at the time, the second that day has since come out and won well.
With just two chase runs under his belt, there may be improvement to come from the chestnut, despite the fact he is the oldest of this bunch.
He be a couple of pounds short at the weights with the pair of Days of Heaven and Vago Collonges, but at a very nice price looks the value of the race.
The latter of his two main rivals has competed at further for much of his short career, so may find the step back in trip a touch sharp.
Though the former does look classy, the difference in price is questionable.
The Grey Taylor bumped into a progressive type last time out, but his previous two wins look solid.
He had heroes handicap hurdle fourth Mr Grey in behind him in November, and Welsh Champion Hurdle fourth Taj Badalandabad behind him in the run before that.
With conditions ideal, he looks a nice price, although he may have to eke out more to land the spoils.
To be backing this horse you will no doubt need to forgive his run in the Hennessy Gold Cup, which was too bad to be true.
Prior to that Paul Nicholls’ charge had been fifth in a Grand National, second in the JNWines.com Chase behind Gold Cup fancy Road to Riches and second in the 2013 Hennessy, so the class is there.
He’s 2lb lower than his last run, and if bouncing back from that poor prior run looks a massive price, especially in comparison to his well fancied stablemate (more on that in the podcast).
Stamina is assured for this horse, something that cannot be said for some of the others in the field, and with versatility ground-wise and can go close at Kempton.
