QPR v Southampton: Ramsey to give Hoops instant lift

| 06.02.2015

Tipping QPR to win may seem barmy at the best of times this season, let alone when their manager has decided to hobble away from the dugout but hear me out.

The Hoops’ woes this season stem almost exclusively from their away form – they are yet to do anything other than lose on the road – and with Southampton arriving in west London on the back of two defeats another home win could be on the cards this weekend.

Southampton are the 17/20 favourites to take all three points, with the draw on at 5/2, but read on to see why the 7/2 on a Rangers win could be the way to go.

Rangers to win @ 7/2

We see it time and time again that a new manager – caretaker or not – can instantly galvanise a squad.

Harry Redknapp was well-liked but new blood and new ideas never hurt, especially with the Rs already a solid force at home.

Rangers have lost just one in eight games at Loftus Road and last time Southampton lost two they went on to lose five.

QPR to win and BTTS @ 15/2

We may be prepared to back QPR as one of our three best bets but a clean sheet for the R’s would be plain daft.

The west Londoners have conceded in each of their last five games and with both sides scoring in five of the last six meetings another high-scoring affair could be on the cards here.

Charlie Austin to score first @ 6/1

The rise of Harry Kane has seen Austin for England cries drowned out in recent weeks but students of form will note the 6/1 here as a huge price.

The former Burnley and Swindon Town man has netted 13 Premier League goals this season, getting his side off the mark first on no fewer than eight occasions. Simply too good to ignore.
