QPR in the hunt for Spurs and Saints troublemakers

Queens Park Rangers continue to be linked with a transfer deadline day swoop for yet another striker with two Premier League bad boys leading the way, according to the latest from the rumour mill.

Southampton outcast Pablo Osvaldo was rumoured to be on the Rs’ radar earlier this month, with manager Harry Redknapp thought to be keen on recruiting the Italy international, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan from the south coast club.

The 29-year-old scored just three goals in 13 Premier League outings for the Saints but the QPR boss was thought to be open to the idea of bringing the striker back to the English top-flight, provided a loan deal could be agreed.

That deal looked dead in the water, however, after it emerged that Juventus were also open to the idea of signing the striker.

But with the Bianconeri today announcing the recruitment of Alessandro Matri from AC Milan, Osvaldo could now be open to the idea of a move, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting as much.

The Argentina-born striker may not be the only potential target for QPR however, with the London club also the front-runners to sign Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor according to Ladbrokes.

Adebayor’s odds have been slashed to 5/4 to sign with Rangers, though Stoke also remain in the hunt for the forward and are 6/1 to land the Togo striker, according to the bookmaker.

Any deal will most likely be a loan but with time fast running out, QPR will have to move quickly if they are to sign either forward ahead of the 11pm deadline.

The Rs have been linked with several strikers in the past few days, despite already recruiting Mauro Zarate on loan from West Ham.

qOne other name linked with a Loftus Road switch is Cesena’s Gregoire Defrel, with the Frenchman emerging as a surprise target for the London club in recent days.
