Palace v Liverpool: Eagles a pleasurable price to end Reds’ run

Published:

On Saturday teatime Selhurst Park’s famous atmosphere will just be coming to the boil as Crystal Palace entertain Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round and given the home side’s renewed vigour under Alan Pardew, another big club could be bowing out.

Bearing in mind Palace are at home under the floodlights, 14/5 looks a meaty price on the home win, Liverpool are unappealingly slim at 1/1 despite decent form coming into the clash, while the draw is a 5/2 compromise.

When throwing all known variables into the mix for this cup tie, we believe the three upcoming bets could come up trumps for Ladbrokes customers:

Palace to beat Liverpool @ 14/5

Liverpool have not enjoyed trips south of the Thames in some time, going six visits to Selhurst Park in all competitions without recording victory, losing four of those to boot.

The last of those was a comprehensive 3-1 loss in the Premier League this season and although much has changed in both camps since then, this factor has to be taken seriously, especially after the title slipped through Liverpool’s fingers here last May.

On current form the Reds shade it, but since Pardew’s appointment the Eagles have won five of seven matches, with Tottenham and Southampton the most notable scalps.

Crystal Palace: Draw No Bet @ 31/20

For those punters not quite brave enough to stick their necks on the block and back Palace, but also suitably underwhelmed by the 3/4 on double chance, this bet might hold most attraction on the hosts’ prevailing.

Dwight Gayle to score at anytime @ 3/1

Palace’s top scorer has 10 in all competitions, including four under the stewardship of Pardew, so even before taking into consideration his brilliant record against Liverpool this rates a zinging price.

The former Peterborough ace has now netted in all three career meetings with the Reds to date, scoring twice last season in the home league fixture to seal Liverpool’s title misery.
