Newcastle v Stoke: Magpies sub backed for goal again

Published:

Managerless they may be but Newcastle showed with last week’s 3-0 win over Hull that they can still get the job done.

As such, the Magpies go into go into the weekend’s clash with Stoke as 13/10 favourites to take all three points.

Mark Hughes’ Potters can be backed at 12/5 to disappoint the Toon Army and the draw is available at 23/10.

Having looked through the stats, though, Ladbrokes News feel there is better value elsewhere. Read on for our top three bets.

Over 2.5 goals @ 21/20

The last two meetings may have yielded 1-0 wins for the home side but a look further back hints that there could be goals at St James’ Park on Sunday.

The previous four encounters saw a total of 15 goals and while one of those was the Magpies’ 5-1 rout in 2013 the omens look good for at least three goals.

Papiss Cisse to score first @ 5/1

Cisse came off the bench to net last time out against the Tigers to make it nine league goals in total for the season.

With six of those strikes coming first in games for Newcastle it takes a brave man to bet against the Senegalese striker netting fit here.

Yoan Gouffran to score anytime @ 7/2

With nine of their Premier League goals coming from the bench, none one has seen more substitutes score than Newcastle this season.

Gouffran added his name to that list at the KC Stadium and if giving a cameo role against the Potters looks well placed to repeat the trick this time round.
