Former Manchester United manager plots Newcastle raid

Sammy Ameobi has emerged as the latest shock target for Real Sociedad manager David Moyes, with the Newcastle United winger out of contract in the summer.
The 22-year-old, who came up through the youth ranks at St James’ Park, has impressed for the
Toon so far this term, scoring two goals in 19 appearances for the Tyneside club.
However, with Ameobi yet to sign a new contract with the Magpies, a move away from the north east could be in the offing, with Spain emerging as one possible destination for the England under-21 international.
Moyes has made no secret of his desire to bring young English talent over to La Liga with the La Real emerging as contenders to sign the Newcastle wide-man last week.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports earlier this season, Moyes outlined his plans to recruit heavily from the Premier League in the coming months.
“If there’s one market I know best at the moment then it’s the British market,” he said.
Burnley striker Danny Ings has emerged as another possible target for Sociedad, with the club keen to recruit the highly-rated forward this summer but facing competition from Liverpool.
Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam was also previously linked with a move away from English shores and could yet be the subject of a surprise bid from La Real.
The Royal Blue Mersey blog meanwhile claims that Moyes could be set to move for Toffees midfielder Steven Pienaar.
A move to Sociedad would represent the third time Moyes has recruited the South African, though a switch away from Everton remains a possibility with the ex-Ajax midfielder so far playing just 10 times in all competitions for the Merseysiders.
Roberto Martinez’s team are in action against Young Boys at Goodison Park this Thursday in the last-32 of the Europa League.
The Toffees take a 4-1 home-leg lead into the return fixture, where they are once again heavy favourites for victory.
