Juventus v Dortmund: Goals guaranteed, but after the break

Published:

Meeting for the first time since the 1996/97 final, Juventus host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last 16 seeking vengeance for the 3-1 defeat Die Schwarzgelben inflicted upon them in Munich.

In terms of how the season has panned out, this pair couldn’t be more contrasted.

Dortmund find themselves in dire domestic straits, but have performed admirably in Europe, while the Old Lady reigns supreme in the kingdom of calcio after wobbling in the continent’s premier competition.

As a result, it’s difficult to identify a runner worthy of investment in the match-betting stakes.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are outsiders at 3/1, but the bookies are anything but convinced about Juventus doing the business, attributing them 21/20 favouritism next to the 23/10-rated draw.

Quite the conundrum, huh? But don’t waste your time deliberating for there are plenty of other lucrative money-making avenues well worth taking a winter stroll down.

Over 2.5 goals @ evens

Such a generous price is rarely offered for an outcome as near-guaranteed as this.

Since losing to Augsburg, Dortmund have won three straight, scoring at least three times in each of their matches.

They hit seven in their first two Champions League road games this term and are more than capable of bagging against a Bianconeri outfit who have kept just two clean sheets in seven at base camp.

It’s also important to note that four of their last five at home have crossed the goal line in question.

Result at HT – Draw @ 21/20

Five of Juventus’ six games so far – including both meetings with Swedish minnows Malmo – saw both participants go in level at the break.

Olympiacos are the only team to have registered first-half goals against Massimiliano Allegri’s men, doing so once in both of their group-stage skirmishes, which adds value to the 13/8 about the game remaining goalless after 45 minutes.

Both teams to score – No @ 9/10

Each of Dortmund’s three continental trips this term have rewarded those who backed this bet, contributing to their ‘both teams to score – no’ count of four from six.

Juventus can best this tally, however, seeing five games finish with only one or neither side on the scoresheet.
