Glasgow Rangers in line to recruit Newcastle United midfielder
Newcastle Unite fringe star Gael Bigirimana could be given the opportunity to resurrect his career with a move to Scottish Championship promotion chasers Glasgow Rangers.
The 21-year-old has struggled to break into the first team at St James’ Park, following his move from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee believed to be somewhere in the region of £1m back in July 2012, playing just 26 times for the Toon to date.
However the former England under-20 international could be given the opportunity to showcase his worth to the club with a loan spell with the Gers.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley owns a stake in the Ibrox club and, according to The Chronicle, is set to allow a number of fringe Magpies stars to move to the Gers on loan.
Bigirimana could be joined by Haris Vuckic and Kevin Mbabu at the Glasgow club, with Ashley hoping that the deal will not only provide the trio with valuable game-time and experience but also help Rangers earn promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers are currently 16 points behind leaders Hearts but remain a point ahead of Hibernian with the teams placed second through to fourth going into a play-off to earn a place in the Scottish top-flight.
These arrivals would be welcomed by fans, who have already seen promising youngster Lewis Macleod move to Championship outfit Brentford last December.
