France v Scotland: Richie Gray out for revenge in Paris

Published:

Rank outsiders for victory at 7/2 with Ladbrokes, Scotland fans should still be optimistic about their team’s chances going into this encounter in Paris.

Records are there to be broken and, though France’s run of seven consecutive victories against the visitors makes the price of 2/9 on a Les Bleus’ win understandably short, they have not been in the best of form recently.

Scotland have run France close in each of their last three encounters and with that in mind, we’ve plucked out three top tips that could have people north-of-the-border singing long into the night.

Scotland (+9.5 points) to beat France @ evens

Scotland may be a tempting prospect to back to win, but this handicap selection should provide something of a safety net for the more cautious punter and looks a great prospect when you consider recent results between the teams.

France may have won all of the recent meetings between the two but with each of their previous three victories coming by a margin of seven points or less, another close run affair could allow you to double your money.

Richie Gray to score a try at any time @ 12/1

The Castres man may be in the midst of a difficult spell with Castres, but a trip to Paris and a chance to silence some of his France-based doubters could prove too tempting to ignore for the 6ft 9in lock forward.

Gray was named man of the match when these two met in the capital back in 2011 and was among the try scorers in a recent victory over Argentina – a team that recently dispatched France 18-13.

Scotland to win the first half @ 5/2

Evidence of Scotland’s improved form against France can be best demonstrated by the fact that the Tartan Army have not gone in behind in any of their last three encounters with their Gallic foe.

In fact, Scotland have actually been ahead in the last two of these encounters and look a tempting tip to “win” the first half here.
