Everton complete loan deal for Tottenham outcast

Everton have sealed a loan deal for Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon with the 27-year-old set to move to Goodison Park on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The former Leeds United youngster had been linked with several Premier League clubs over the course of January and at one point had looked set for a move to Stoke.

However reporter David Ornstein is now reporting that the Spurs wide-man is all set for a move to Everton, with the Toffees set to sign the player on a temporary basis with a view to complete a permanent deal come the summer.

Lennon, meanwhile, will be hoping that a move to the Merseysiders can help revive his England international team fortunes, with the ex-Whites man falling out of favour under Roy Hodgson in recent years.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez remains under pressure to find results though, despite last weekend’s 1-0 victory away at the in-form Crystal Palace, with the Toffees now closer to relegation than a top four finish.

The Spanish boss will be hoping the recruitment of Lennon can help kick-start the Toffees’ campaign while the winger could prove the ideal foil to help the club get the best out of £30m summer signing Romelu Lukaku.
