Celtic look to cut-price PSV Eindhoven dangerman for help

Celtic could be set to complete one of the deals of the January transfer window with the Bhoys reportedly closing in on PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali.

The 19-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie, having caught the eye of several clubs across Europe over the past couple of seasons.

La Liga giants Atletico Madrid came close to agreeing a deal to bring the midfielder to Spain last summer but the €3m move ultimately fell through, though Bakkali continued to attract interest from several Premier League sides.

Despite this, the Belgian has found himself frozen out by PSV this term, after refusing to sign a new contract with the club.

And while a lack of playing time has seen several sides opt against a January bid for the attacker, Celtic are thought to be keen on recruiting the Belgium international ahead of a busy few months both domestically and in Europe.

According to a report from the Daily Record, the Bhoys are lining up a £750,000 deal for the player, who could prove useful in helping the club secure another league title and domestic cup honours this term.

Celtic also face Inter Milan in the knockout phase of the Europa League and with Bakkali eligible to play for the Hoops, having failed to make an appearance for PSV in the competition, he could prove highly useful.

Inter Milan could prove easy pickings for Ronny Deila’s men, with the Nerazzurri enduring a rotten season that saw them lose 3-1 to Sassuolo at the weekend.
