Banned Stoke centre-back heading for Leicester loan switch

Published:

Until Stoke’s fourth-round FA Cup win over Rochdale, Robert Huth had been exclusively used by Mark Hughes as a cup player. But seeing as he didn’t start at Spotland Stadium, it seems even that miniscule role in the side has disappeared for the German.

It is hardly surprising then, that the former Chelsea defender is set for a loan move to Leicester City on transfer deadline day, having been snapped by Sky Sports News cameras entering the Foxes’ training ground to finalise the deal.

Currently serving a two-match ban for social-media misdemeanours, the German has only made three starts this season and will surely walk straight into a Leicester defence that currently rates as the third-worst in the Premier League.

With the Foxes currently rock bottom in the division and three points from safety, transfer deadline day could be quite a busy one for the club as Nigel Pearson looks to bolster a squad that is 8/11 with Ladbrokes to be relegated.

Having already passed his medical, Huth is certain to be the first arrival at the King Power Stadium and brings a wealth of top-flight experience with him, having made 145 Premier League appearances across his career, at three clubs.
