Swansea eye up move for incurable former Arsenal target

According to the latest reports, Swansea are weighing up whether to throw some of their £28m Wilfried Bony money at Rubin Kazan, in order to secure the services of renowned troublemaker Yann M’Vila.

The 24-year-old Frenchman has been on loan at Inter since the start of this season, and there were whispers that QPR would try to borrow him for the remainder of the campaign as they fight to confound 4/7 relegation odds.

However, the Mirror believes the Swans are in the market to buy M’Vila outright, which could tip the transfer scales in their favour.

Back in the summer of 2012, having established himself in Laurent Blanc’s France side, M’Vila was one of Europe’s most sought after youngsters, with then-employers Rennes expected to command around £17m for the 21-year-old’s services.

Arsenal was thought to be his likeliest destination, but after being arrested for punching a 17-year-old at his home the Gunners allegedly went off him.

This wasn’t the first time M’Vila had hit the headlines, having also been accused of hitting a restaurant owner after a car accident in January 2010.

Further incidents followed, including an unauthorised night out on France U21 duty, which resulted in a two-year ban from all national teams (he hasn’t turned out for his country since).

Blanc had already ditched M’Vila for one match following Euro 2012 for not shaking the boss’ hand after being substituted against Spain.

He eventually moved to Rubin for less than £10m in January 2013, reportedly snubbing QPR and Fulham in the process, but not before becoming embroiled in another scandal involving an underage prostitute.

There’s no doubting M’Vila’s talent, and the fact that he can hardly get a game at Inter after struggling to settle in Russia may mean Swansea can bag him at a bargain price, although it’s hard to see the player’s attitude being improved by a spell in the ultra high-profile Premier League.

Garry Monk’s men have won three of their last four FA Cup games, all of which were on the road, and are 13/10 to do the same against Blackburn at Ewood Park.
