QPR likely to step up M’Vila chase after ex-Blues star snub

Michael Essien’s decision to turn down a move to Queens Park Rangers could prompt the London Club to step up their efforts to sign Inter Milan misfit Yann M’Vila this week.

The 24-year-old looks likely to depart the San Siro in the coming days, after struggling to adapt to life with the Nerazzurri, having made just eight appearances for the club in Serie A so far this season.

And while the likes of West Brom and Swansea are both thought to be chasing the defensive midfielder, Rs manager Harry Redknapp will be hoping that the lure of playing and living in London will be enough to the convince the France international to choose Rangers.

QPR are desperate to recruit midfield reinforcements in the coming days with M’Vila identified as a prime target after a similar move for Michael Essien was rebuffed.

Redknapp was reportedly keen on bringing the ex-Chelsea star back to the Premier League from current club AC Milan.

However a report from The Mirror now claims that the 32-year-old is against the idea of returning to England, where he could potentially line up against his former club.

With time running out in the race to recruit new players, QPR could be forced to push for an M’Vila deal, with the former Rennes man thought to be desperate to end his difficult stay in Italy.

Currently on loan from Russian side Rubin Kazan, M’Vila’s season-long loan stay at the San Siro will most likely be cancelled with QPR then paying to recruit the midfielder for the remainder of the season.

Any deal is also likely to give the Rs the option to sign the player on the permanent basis come the summer, though whether the London club are playing in the Premier League at that point remains to be seen.
