QPR facing French resistance in battle to sign Tottenham star

The race to sign Emmanuel Adebayor is quickly shaping up to be a battle between two of football’s most famous acronyms, after it was reported that QPR are set to rival PSG with a bid for the Tottenham striker.

According to Sky Sports, the Loftus Road club have entered the race to recruit the Togolese star, who has also attracted interest from the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Adebayor is thought to be keen on a move away from White Hart Lane having fallen behind Harry Kane in the pecking order at the club.

The 30-year-old has scored 41 goals in 106 appearances to date for the Lilywhites to date and was an unused substitute during Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final against the Blades.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp remains keen to recruit an experienced striker to help steer QPR clear of relegation and has been linked with several high-profile moves over the past few weeks.

Former Southampton striker Pablo Osvaldo was one rumoured target for the Rs manager while the likes of Robbie Keane and Yakubu Aiyegbeni have also been linked with a London switch.

Meanwhile, West Ham forward Mauro Zarate has already been recruited on a loan deal until the end of the season, though Rangers are expected to be busy in the coming days.

Winger Junior Hoillett is looking increasingly likely to leave the club with MLS outfit Toronto FC leading the way for the QPR star.

Rangers travel to the Britannia Stadium this weekend to face a Stoke side fresh from a 4-1 drubbing of League One side Rochdale in the FA Cup on Monday.

The result did come at a considerable cost, however, with in-form attacker Bojan Krkic suffering an injury that has already ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
