Price Boost: Everton star boosted for first goal v former team

You could argue that it wasn’t for West Brom, Romelu Lukaku wouldn’t have a Premier League career now.

Unloved by Chelsea, without ever really given a chance to prove himself, Lukaku was sent on loan to the Hawthorns for the duration of the 2012/13 season.

It was during that campaign, under Steve Clarke, that the young Belgian answered his doubters, scoring 17 times in 35 appearances to convince the country that he was a Premier League striker worth placing some stock in.

Although Chelsea were still to be convinced, Everton certainly were and after a season loaned to the Goodison Park side, Lukaku became a permanent Toffee in the summer, all thanks to chance West Brom took on him.

To that end, don’t be surprised to see the 21-year-old decline to celebrate if he scores the opening goal (or any goal for that matter) against his old team when the pair clash on Monday night.

Without such history to worry about, there is nothing stopping Ladbrokes customers from jumping for joy should Lukaku bag the opener in the game though, especially if they back at the bookies’ boosted odds.

The former Chelsea man is out from 4/1 to set the scoreboard rolling to an even more tempting 5s when the Baggies bring the Tony Pulis revolution to Merseyside.

Such a price is well worth a flutter too, as Lukaku has a happy knack of scoring a game’s first goal, something he’s been well-drilled in this term.

Of his six Premier League goals during the campaign, the Belgian has netted first four times and has scored more often at home than when playing on the road too.

Add in the one goal he’s netted against West Brom in two appearances against the Midlanders and it all mixes up to a very potent punt.
