Price Boost: Chelsea superstar has odds inflated at the Bridge

What will happen first when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge for the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg? A goal, or a renewing of Jordan Henderson and Diego Costa’s rivalries?

The pair were clearly not the best of friends during the 1-1 draw at Anfield last week and reportedly had to be separated in the tunnel after the match.

While all the pre-match hype may well centre around the feud, Ladbrokes can only add to the excitement by boosting the price of one man to score the game’s first goal.

They’ve decided to plump for the home side’s Spanish-Brazilian, who gets a price hike from 11/4 to 4/1 to net first.

Costa, who has 17 goals in 26 appearances in his debut campaign as a Chelsea player, has certainly justified the £32m Jose Mourinho forked out for him and is yet to suffer a dip in form since joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The 26-year-old has netted three in as many outings for the Blues recently and has a wider form line of seven strikes in his last nine for the west Londoners, although only one of those goals broke the game’s deadlock.

In the Premier League, where the Lagarto native has scored all of his tally, Costa hasn’t been particularly clinical in opening-goal terms, only managing to beat the rest of the men on the field to the feat five times.

What’s promising for those who want take on the striker’s enhanced price, is that he has scored far more regularly in front of his home fans than on the road.

10 of his collection for the campaign have come at Stamford Bridge, while Liverpool have now failed to bag first in two successive matches since the Blues burst their run of eight first-goal games at Anfield.
