PDC World Darts: Destroyer to nail highest checkout v Taylor

Published:

Though Phil Taylor eats world championship quarter-finals for breakfast, he’s not checking out in overly-exuberant fashion at Alexandra Palace, so we tip Vincent van der Voort to finish higher as part of our three best bets for the contest.

The Power may have been run too close for comfort when beating Kim Huybrechts 4-3 in a deciding set to reach the last eight, but given Taylor is the only player to average 101+ at the tournament, we can’t envisage 23rd seed Van der Voort (92.92) causing the same trouble.

Swerving the seemingly inevitable 1/20 Taylor win however, we’ve offered up a trio of far more profitable-looking wagers.

Van der Voort to hit the highest checkout @ 9/4

As per usual the vast majority of Taylor’s numbers are a cut above the competition at Ally Pally, except in the highest-checkout department.

The Stokey slinger has been bettered in this market three times in succession, peaking at 96, while the Dutch Destroyer has broken the 120 mark in all three matches prior to this, busting a 157 in his opener.

Van der Voort highest checkout: Over 112.5 @ 5/6

With previous highests of 157, 125 and 122 leading into this match against the 14-time champion, the lightning-fingered Dutchman surpassing this line again looks a steal.

Taylor to win 5-2 @ 10/3

The pair have met 21 times in all with Taylor taking the honours on 18 occasions, including the last two encounters.

The last two winning margins have seen Taylor triumph by four and three sets respectively (6-2, 6-3), lending credence to this wager.
