Former manager willing to take Liverpool dud back to Serie A

Juventus are willing to rescue Mario Balotelli from his ill-fated stint at Liverpool on loan with a view to signing him permanently, according to one reputable newspaper.

The man tossing the Life Buoy is one of Balotelli’s former managers at AC Milan, Massimiliano Allegri, now in charge of the Serie A champions.

Although the pair only worked together briefly, the Italy striker left a favourable impression on the Juve chief.

“We would like to recruit him, but we do not know if it is possible. Mario had a good season with me,” Allegri said.

Having failed to find the net once in the Premier League for Liverpool since returning to England this summer, it seems a deal Brendan Rodgers will likely grab with both hands.

The Northern Irishman’s gamble on signing Balotelli has clearly backfired and with other potential centre-forward targets regularly being linked, offloading the maverick frontman looks to be the best option.

Unsettled Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is the latest name in the frame to join the 6/1 top-four shots, while Saido Berahino links are unlikely to cool either.

Another of Rodgers’ summer signings theoretically brought in to replace Luis Suarez could also be following Balotelli out of the Anfield exit door in swift fashion, if reports bare fruit.

Rickie Lambert has at least managed to score once in the Premier League, but has looked short of the mark since joining his boyhood club, leading West Brom and Crystal Palace to show interest.

Alan Pardew’s decision to bring Arsenal’s Yaya Sanogo in on loan could push the Baggies further ahead in the queue though.
