Leicester v Aston Villa: Foxes to send Villans home as 1-0 losers again

Published:

Despite losing the reverse fixture 2-1, a resurgent Leicester side should be able to net three more priceless points against visiting Aston Villa, who cannot buy a Premier League goal at present.

The match odds reflect this viewpoint with the Foxes installed as the 6/5 favourites, Villa the outsiders at 12/5 and the draw an 11/5 compromise.

A third win in four games for Leicester is where we start our best bets:

Leicester win to nil @ 12/5

Look away Villa fans. Paul Lambert’s men have failed to locate the onion bag in four of their last five Premier League matches, and the one goal in that dismal run arrived at home to Manchester United on December 20th.

The Birmingham-based visitors have also lost both of their last two away league fixtures – at West Brom and Swansea – without finding the net.

Meanwhile, Leicester have beaten Hull away in the top-flight and dumped Newcastle out the FA Cup at the King Power Stadium without conceding, en-route to three games unbeaten.

Leicester to win 1-0 @ 11/2

As alluded to above, both of the hosts’ last two wins have arrived by the same 1-0 scoreline, while Villa’s last two road trips also saw them go down 1-0.

This bet is a goer as a direct result, especially as the last three meetings in all competitions have been won by a single goal.

Under 2.5 total goals @ 13/20

Clearly the final total of goals shimmying under the 1.5 bar is a more lucrative option at 9/5.

However, as a covering punt this one rates a virtual banker having landed 10 times in a combined 12 previous games split evenly between the teams.
