Who Killed Lucy Beale? Abi Branning is the bookies’ new prime suspect

Published:

In true Eastenders style, there was nothing peaceful or harmonious about New Year’s Day on Albert Square.

Well, you wouldn’t expect anything less, would you?

While viewers were left on tenterhooks wondering whether Roni Mitchell would survive an unfortunate car crash, one of the show’s biggest ever ‘whodunit’ storylines delivered yet another thrilling twist.

We’ll let others recap a dramatic festive period in more detail.

The net result of the latest revelations has been the emergence of Abi Branning as the red-hot favourite in Ladbrokes’ ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ market with the bookmaker reporting £10,000 worth of bets have been placed in the last week alone.

Max’s younger daughter is now the 3/1 favourite to be revealed as the killer in February’s 30th anniversary episode.

Jane Beale is next on the list at odds of 4/1 while Abi’s sister Lauren and Denise Fox are both priced at 6/1 to be uncovered as Lucy’s murderer.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “This is quickly becoming the most popular whodunit of all time, and Eastenders fans are convinced they’ve got it sussed and Abi’s the killer.”

Viewers will have to wait a little while longer to see the outcome with show insiders keeping the identity of the culprit a closely-guarded secret.
