Everton linked to Pato and El Shaarawy as deadline approaches

With Sampdoria looking the likely next stop of Samuel Eto’o, Everton are likely to be in for a replacement for the Cameroonian, with reports suggesting the club are in line to complete a clutch of business with Serie A sides.

Eto’o’s exit from Goodison Park has looked on the cards for a while, with press speculation constant throughout January and the striker absent from the Toffees’ last two matches.

But while one attacking player looks destined for the continent, Roberto Martinez is rumoured to be interested in a bit of shopping in Milan.

AC’s Stephan El Shaarawy came to the fore at the Italian giants two seasons ago when he netted 16 times in Italy’s top flight.

However, while his current side can lay claim  to an illustrious history, Filippo Inzaghi’s men have been very lacklustre this season.

They sit in 10th place in the league, 23 points behind leaders Juventus, and with El Shaarawy himself with just a solitary goal, things need to improve at the San Giuseppe Meazza.

Martinez will be hoping a move to a new environment can bring out the best for the 22-year-old spiky-haired forward, with the north Italy club reportedly open to a bid from the Premier League.

Everton’s interest in El Shaarawy might have the Italian press in overdrive, but the rumour mill doesn’t stop there. There have also been whispers that the Merseysiders are also in for a man that donned the red and black stripes of il Diavolo two years ago.

Once tipped up to be the next big thing, Alexandre Pato failed to keep up his early promise at Milan, scoring just once in his last 15 Serie A appearances.

A move back to Brazil seems to have rekindled some of the magic in the 25-year-old, popping up with nine goals last season for Sao Paulo on loan from Corinthians.

Sportitalia reports that the Brazilian side have offered the player to Everton, and are expecting a move from the Premier League strugglers any day.
