Chelsea winger in demand despite limited playing time at Bridge

Just a year on from Chelsea plucking Mohamed Salah from Liverpool’s clutches, it looks increasingly likely that the Egyptian’s time in England is coming to an abrupt end.

The player Jose Mourinho invested £11m during the last January transfer window is a firm target of Inter Milan, Napoli and Besiktas, while Serie A side Roma are the latest to throw their hats into the ring.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia is hoping he can prise Salah away from Stamford Bridge on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

Besiktas have reportedly opened negotiations with the 2/5 Premier League title favourites over a possible transfer, while Roma are hoping to hijack those talks.

Salah, 22, has failed to find much playing time at all under Mourinho, despite being brought off the back of two dazzling performances against the Blues in last season’s Champions League for former club Basel.

With the likes of Brazilians Oscar and Willian, fan-favourite Eden Hazard and even bit-part player Andre Schurrle in front of him in the pecking order Salah hasn’t been able to contribute much to the Chelsea cause at all.

The wideman has not started a single Premier League game, featuring only seven times in total this season.

Chelsea fans will probably feel they have been prevented from seeing the best of the Egyptian flyer thanks to such limited opportunities, but in a squad as rich in attacking talent he now looks surplus to requirements.

The Blues play Swansea in the top-flight next, hoping to create a five-point gap over Manchester City by the time the champions take on Arsenal in Sunday’s big game at the Etihad.
