Championship accumulator: Picking winners couldn’t ‘B’ easier this weekend

Published:

This weekend offers some mouth-watering Championship contests with Ipswich v Derby and Blackpool v Millwall perhaps the standout ties.

However, those matches are avoided by the Ladbrokes News team when putting together a second tier acca with four teams beginning with B getting the nod instead.

Backing league leaders Bournemouth to overcome Norwich, Brentford to punish Rotherham, Bolton to add to Leeds’ woes and Birmingham to build on decent form against hapless Wigan looks a solid bet and at odds of 17/1 it’s definitely worth at least  a small stake.

Also, with Ladbrokes offering refunds on losing accumulators of five or more teams when just one side lets you down, adding Brighton to beat Charlton sticks with the theme and boosts the odds to a whopping 40/1.

Brentford to beat Rotherham @ 19/20

The sixth-placed Bees may have lost their last three but they have been defeated just once in eight games at Griffin Park and will be confident of a return to winning ways against a Rotherham side that has won just once in 13 attempts.

Bournemouth to beat Norwich @ 19/20

The table-topping Cherries have now lost just one of their last 17 games and with the Canaries losing two on the bounce and winning just one of their last seven away from Carrow Road Eddie Howe’s side look primed to extend their run as league leaders.

Bolton to beat Leeds @ evens

The Trotters’ league position (15th) doesn’t exactly scream resurgence but their form – just one defeat in 10 outings – does. Neil Lennon’s side are unbeaten in six games at the Macron Stadium and with Leeds losing five of their last six this tie looks likely to only go one way.

Birmingham to beat Wigan @ 7/5

The Blues are horrible at home but fortunately for Gary Rowett and co. the Latics are awful everywhere.

Birmingham are in decent form, winning five of their last six games, while Wigan have won just once in 11 and just three of their last 18 assignments away from the DW Stadium. Verdict? Home win all the way.
