Backing Fowler in all four majors makes perfect sense in 2015

American golf has several rising stars capable of giving Rory McIlroy a run for his money at 2015’s four majors, but none are better placed than Rickie Fowler.

Only recently Fowler has been expressing his excitement about his burgeoning golfing duel with the world number one, who is just four months the 26-year-old’s junior.

“It’s not just 2015 to look forward to but the rest of our careers. We have a lot of time that we are going to be able to play against each other. This is really just the start of it. I feel like we are going to have some fun and heated battles at times,” said Fowler.

If 2014 was anything to go by, Fowler is right on the money, and so could Ladbrokes customers be by backing the colourfully-clad American at all four flagship events this year.

Where McIlroy went on to claim a brilliant Open Championship-PGA double last season, Fowler was not just hanging off the Ulsterman’s coattails – finishing second and third to him respectively at those events – he also placed in the top five in both of the first two majors of the year.

With a blank canvas of blue-riband tournaments ahead, the Oklahoma State graduate is priced at 25/1 to win in each of them in the outright markets.

Going off last season’s electric form, and Ladbrokes paying out at quarter of the odds on the first five places each-way, backing Fowler at such prices looks a clear path towards profit.

Fowler obviously has the mentality and talent required to hunt big trophies, and it’s a 5/1 chance that the Florida resident nets any one of them in 2015.

A green jacket slipped over all-orange apparel may become the new fashion come April, so don’t miss out.
