Australian Open: Williams sisters to shine in sunny Melbourne

Published:

We’re fast approaching the business end of the Australian Open in Melbourne with plenty of familiar faces in action this Wednesday and offering up more than a tempting tip or two.

Including the familiar presence of the Williams sisters along with Novak Djokovic, all three of these predictions look near perfect to us and are available as singles or a tempting treble priced at a whopping 37/2 with Ladbrokes.

Venus Williams to beat Madison Keys 2-0 @ 6/4

After a difficult battle with illness it was nice to see the elder Williams reach her first quarter-final in five years and having previously reached the final of the Australian Open in 2003 we are confident the 34-year-old can see off the inexperienced Madison Keys.

Already in the midst of her best Grand Slam performance to date, the 19-year-old could struggle having lost in straight sets in her only previous meeting with Williams, who is on a high following her fine victory over Agnieszka Radwanska in the last round.

Serena Williams to beat Dominika Cibulkova 2-1 @ 10/3

World no.1 she may be, but the younger Williams sibling has not had everything her own way Down Under, losing sets in each of the previous two rounds and with Cibulkova proving she is made of stern stuff after a 2-1 win over Victoria Azarenka this one could go close.

Williams has won all of the previous meetings between the two teams but one encounter at the Miami Masters a couple of years back saw the Slovakian claim a set, so there is hope.

Novak Djokovic to beat Milos Raonic 3-0 @ 4/5

As much as it would be nice to claim that Andy Murray has a chance at winning the Australian Open, there is a growing concern that Novak Djokovic simply cannot be beaten on current form, having so far failed to drop a single set in Melbourne.

Raonic is unlikely to fare any better either, having won just single set against the Serbian from four previous matches.
