Australian Open: No room for Murray in three best bets

Despite the likes of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic both taking to the courts Down Under this Tuesday, odds of 1/50 and 1/100 on the pair hardly tempts while the majority of the big names in the men’s draw are priced similarly unfavourably.

Fear not, however, as we’ve scoured the matches and ATP Tour Rankings to unearth three potential gems for those looking to maximise their tennis betting returns without having to back a 10-match accumulator.

Here are three of the best which, when combined, equate to a tasty treble at odds of just over 43/1 and are similarly tempting as individual tips – read on to find out why.

Denis Kudla to beat Feliciano Lopez @ 11/4

Lopez has made a stinking start to the 2015 season, having lost each of the five competitive matches he has played so far this year, with three of his last four losses coming against players ranked outside of the ATP Top 50.

In fact, the Spaniard has lost eight of his last 10 going into the backend of 2014 and with his up-and-coming American opponent Kudla fresh from winning four of the six matches he has played this year – including a win over Victor Troicki – this could be one upset to watch out for.

Go Soeda to beat Elias Ymer 3-0 @ 4/1

The higher-ranked of the two players, Go Soeda has been in excellent form of late, winning eight of his last 10 matches and he will fancy his chances of a 3-0 win over the 212-ranked Ymer, with his Swedish adversary forced to come through three rounds of qualifying just to get here.

Five of his Japanese opponent’s last six victories have come in straight sets and given the gulf in class – Go Soeda is 92^nd in the ATP rankings – the price on a 3-0 win looks tempting to say the least.

Dusan Lajovic to beat Sergiy Stakhovsky @ 11/8

The Serbian remains something of an unpredictable force in the men’s game – seeing off big name opponents one minute before crumbling against less names the next – but despite losing his only previous meeting with Stakhovsky, we fancy him to do the job here.

That one previous encounter came back in 2012 and with Lajovic coming into the Aussie Open off the back of his best season to date and keen to build on his 2^nd round appearance last year, a Lajovic win with Stakhovsky’s recent results including a 2-1 loss to Mirza Basic.
