The final of Carlton Mid Tri-Series is fast approaching and win for England in their second tussle with Australia could go a long way to ensuring that India are muscled out of the chance to compete for a spot in the trophy match.
Victory for the hosts will ensure a place in that showpiece occasion and would give MS Dhoni’s men hope of facing them after the round-robin stage.
With England coming off a confidence-boosting thrashing of the Indians this certainly shapes to a more competitive outing than the three-wicket triumph the Aussies secured in the series opener.

Starc was the man to rip England’s heart out within three balls of that first meeting, accounting for both Ian Bell and James Taylor in the game’s opening over with balls swinging into their pads and leaving England reeling for the rest of their innings.
The Sydney native ended that match with 4-42 then followed it up by claiming six Indian scalps for 43 runs in his next outing.
Clearly a man in form, Starc is a very long price to repeat his heroics and claim the man of the match award.
After Starc ensured England’s first stand of the series amounted to nothing, the Three Lions failed to bounce back from that slow start in their next outing, putting just 25 on the board before Moeen Ali was removed by Stuart Binny.
Ali looks to have particularly struggled to adapt on his first tour of Australia and another low first-wicket stand looks right around the corner as the Worcestershire all-rounder continues to find his feet.
The last time these two played an ODI at Hobart, Marsh scored 110 batting at number six in January 2011.
He’ll have the chance to cash in on fond memories from the off this time around, as he fills in on opening duties with David Warner resting a sore hamstring.
Marsh’s form has been good enough for him to do that of late too, getting starts in all of his last five ODI knocks and passing 50 twice in that time.
